Hong Kong authorities have warned people to avoid kissing their pets, but also to not panic and abandon them after a dog repeatedly tested “weak positive” for coronavirus.
Experts have agreed the results suggested the Pomeranian, whose owner was infected with Covid-19, had a low-level of infection and it’s likely to be a case of human-to-animal transmission.
Authorities warned pet owners in the city, where 103 people have been infected with Covid-19 and thousands are in self-quarantine, not to panic. They have issued reminders about good hygiene practices, including hand washing before and after handling animals and their food, as well as avoiding kissing them.
The dog will return to its owner once it returns a negative result.
