Nigeria’s former finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has said she is not the head of South Africa Economic Advisory Council, but only a member of the body.
Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala was reported in the social media to have been appointed head of the council by South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa to help reverse the country’s economy that had just slipped into recession.
The report was fueled by the former World Bank executive presence at the council’s meeting in Tshwane, the northern metropolitan Gauteng Province of Pretoria on Friday.
But reacting to the report through her spokesman, Paul Nwabuikwu, in a post on Facebook on Saturday, the aide noted that the former minister was appointed member of the council, not its head.
Nwabuikwu said: “Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a member, NOT head, of the international team of policy and business experts that make up the South Africa Economic Advisory Council.” source- dailycrucible.
