Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has appealed to Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of Ramadan and let it reflect in their day-to-day activities.
Abdulrazaq in a statement congratulated the Muslim community on the completion of Ramadan and the dawn of Eid-el-Fitri.
In a statement on Thursday by his chief press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor urged the faithful to imbibe the lessons and spirits of the fasting month and let the same henceforth guide their conduct in society.
AbdulRazaq, who is away in Saudi Arabia to perform the lesser Hajj (Umrah), specifically congratulated the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on the occasion of the Eid, praying to God to grant the first-class monarch more rewarding years in good health.
The statement read, “I wish everyone a blessed Eid, and pray Allah to accept and reward our fasting, our alms, and our worship with Al-Jannah Firdaus. I pray Allah to accept our prayers on ourselves, our families, our communities, and our country, Nigeria. We beseech Him to grant us peace and harmony, and give all the leaders (incumbent and incoming) the guidance to move our country to greater heights,” the statement said.
“Similarly, in the spirit of the holy month, I urge our compatriots to forgive one another, put behind us all pre-election grudges, and support all government’s initiatives to build and consolidate peace in every part of Nigeria, as well as build a stronger economy in an atmosphere of love and harmony.
“This is our country; we have a task to make it work with our collective efforts, commitment, and good attitude, keeping in mind that no society is without its struggles.
Similarly, former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has urged Nigerian Muslims not to drop the values imbibed during the just-ended fasting period but to adopt them as part of their daily lives and in the performance of their duties and obligations as citizens.”
Meanwhile, a former Senate President and two-term Kwara governor, Bukola Saraki, urged Muslims to continue the good deeds after Ramadan
“If we can all continue to be good Muslims and good citizens irrespective of whether we are in Ramadan, then our communities will be a better place for all of us to live and we will enjoy the peace of Almighty Allah.
“This year’s Ramadan has come and gone and while we pray that all of us should witness the next one in good health, we need to consciously work on becoming better Muslims, better citizens, and better individuals who are working to give a good account to almighty Allah on the Day of Judgement. That is why we have to find a way to sustain the values of piety, tolerance, humility, good neighborliness, honesty, and patriotism in our daily lives,” he was quoted as saying in a statement from his Media Office in Abuja.
