IPOB members that engage in violent rhetoric and braggadocio are more tolerable than bandits that persistently kill innocent people day after day with impunity.
IPOB members that are not armed and who have been officially declared terrorists are not killing innocent Nigerians. I’m, therefore, still at sea why these bandits shouldn’t be declared terrorists.
Forget about the technical distinction between terrorists and bandits, kidnappers or armed robbers. In practice, the bandits are causing mass deaths on the same scale as the Boko Haram terrorists.
So, this technical distinction means nothing to the poor victims of insecurity in the North. It makes no difference to me whether they are motivated by politics, religion or ideology or any other factor.
If you ask our villagers, they don’t even know what IPOB means. They don’t see IPOB members as a threat to their security, but they know the bandits that are terrorising them, killing them and dispossesing them of everything that they have ever laboured for.
Our country’s priority should be the deployment of more troops fighting the bandits than IPOB members that don’t pose existential threat to our people. Boko Haram terrorists and bandits are the country’s greatest security threat.
