Nigerian Ex International Boxer, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo has warned Governors not to oppress Nigerians with their arguments over Minimum Wage.
Mazi Okoronkwo stated this through a direct message sent to Chrysora Media on Sunday, 9th June.
His message read
“The hike in the price of Petroleum in Nigeria resulted in the increase of transportation fees which in turn created the increase of food items that made it very difficult for Salaries of civil servants to buy desired food stuffs for daily living. This also led to the strike by Labour Union for immediate increase of Minimum wage so that they can atleast be able to transport themselves to work and feed their families”.
“I mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo the Nigeria Ex international Boxer wishes to use this medium to state that all these problems were caused by quick decision from the presidency economic advisers”.
“Followed by one-way thinking of many Nigeria Governors whom impose taxes to farmers, transporters, and private business owners to generate revenue for the state, without putting into consideration that civil servants will be drastically effected because they must buy foods from the labour market and the farmers will sell according to their expenses including the taxes they paid”.
“Therefore if any governor or group of political leaders who think that he or they can not increase the minimum wage to meet up with the demand of the day, should honourably resign and give way to who can deliver”.
“Also in reaction to one of the political office holder who asserted that he can not pay his driver with the kind of labour demand of 100k minimum wage, my advise to the secretary of federation is to drive his car by him self or call one of his children to be driving him around if he can not pay for good services of Drivers”.
“Let make our country a place where no one is oppressed
God Bless Nigeria
I remain Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo Sports Ambassador Boxing”.
