The Chairman Senate Committee on Army, Ali Ndume, has condemned the killing of some military personnel in Borno State by insurgents during an ambush.

Ndume, in a statement in Abuja on Sunday night, said what happened, even though unfortunate, was not enough to dampen the morale of the soldiers.

He urged them to continue in the fight against insurgency in a bid to end the menace in the country.

He added that as a nation, Nigerians must continue to encourage and pray for the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Farouk Yahaya, to succeed in his fight against insurgency.

Ndume, who also called on the Federal Government not to relent in funding the operations of the military, said: “the killing of the soldiers between Marte and Dikwa in Borno State is highly condemnable.

“It is sad and unfortunate. This should not discourage the troops and the army from taking the war to the insurgents. We send our condolences to the family of those killed and pray that God grant them eternal rest especially as they died in the course of serving their father land.
