Anambra: The people of Oba Community in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State have united in a peaceful demonstration, appealing to the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for the release of their son and brother, Dr. Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as “Akwa Okuko Tiwalu Aki”.
The demonstration, which took place in Oba, saw a large turnout of both youths and elders, who carried placards with heartfelt messages pleading for the state government’s intervention in securing Nwangwu’s release.
When contacted in connection with the peaceful demonstration, the Former Youth Leader of Oba Patriotic Union (Emeritus) , the Former Vice President General of Oba Patriotic Union ( Emeritus) and the Former President General of Aborji Akanano Village in Oba, all in an Emeritus capacity have commended Governor Soludo for his ongoing infrastructural projects and developmental strides in the state.
However, he raised concerns over what he described as external influences attempting to destabilize the Igbo people.
He alleged that there is a broader agenda led by the Yoruba against the Igbo community, comparing the situation to past historical events and urging Igbos to remain vigilant.
Nze Dozie Nweke plead with the Governor to address and counter this negative perception, ensuring that the Igbo community is not unfairly judged or stigmatized by other tribes.
He urged the serving Governor to address the derogatory labeling of the Igbo people—particularly their tribe in Nigeria—as the “kings of ritualists” by other ethnic groups label the Igbo people—especially those from a particular area—as being heavily involved in ritual practices.
Nze Nweke further emphasized that the arrest of Chidozie Nwangwu has deeply affected the Oba community, stating that since his removal, the town has not been the same.
He described Nwangwu as a young entrepreneur whose wealth should not be misinterpreted.
He appeal to Governor Soludo to ensure fairness and not allow external pressures to dictate actions against Igbos.
In his appeal, Nze Nweke called on the governor to remain focused on his good governance and not be swayed by distractions related to alleged ritual activities.
He pointed out that insecurity exists in various parts of the country and should be addressed holistically rather than targeting specific individuals or groups.
He urged the Igbo people to uphold their unity, protect their identity, and not allow fear to weaken their resolve.
Concluding his speech, Nze Nweke pleaded with Governor Soludo to show mercy and facilitate the release of Chidozie Nwangwu and others involved, assuring that if there is any wrongdoing with concrete evidence, the community will take appropriate steps to address it.
Nze Dozie Nweke recommend the Governor, acknowledging the good work he is doing in Anambra State and also assured the Governor of their unwavering support for his second tenure.
