Mr. Ochiogu highlighted several key strategies, including regular fire safety training for traders, the enforcement of rules regarding the storage of flammable materials, and ensuring that all generators are kept outside shops to reduce fire hazards.
“Fire outbreaks have caused untold hardship to traders in the past, and we cannot afford to take chances,” Mr. Ochiogu said. “By adhering to strict safety protocols, we can protect lives, livelihoods, and properties in this market.” Ochiogu stated.
The market leader also disclosed plans to collaborate with local fire service officials to provide fire extinguishers in strategic locations within the market. Additionally, he encouraged traders to maintain clean and clutter-free environments around their shops to minimize risks.
Traders expressed their support for these initiatives, with many applauding Mr. Ochiogu’s proactive approach.
