The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has asked the National Assembly to approve fresh external loans of $4.05bn and €710m for his regime.
Experts and Civil Society Organisations who spoke to our correspondents faulted the process of approving loans for the current regime by the National Assembly.

Nigeria sets July 2022 for return of Benin artifacts by Germany
Nigeria has agreed with Germany for hundreds of artefacts stolen during colonial times to be returned from July next year and is negotiating with other museums to repatriate more, an official said on Tuesday.
Thousands of pieces of Nigeria’s so-called Benin Bronzes — 16th to 18th century metal plaques and sculptures — were stolen from the palace of the ancient Benin Kingdom only to end up in museums across the US and Europe.
Nigeria plans to build a museum in Benin City in southern Edo State where it hopes to house the bronzes, seen as among the most highly regarded works of African art….

FIRS, not states should collect VAT —Umahi
Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi says the state is not in support of Rivers, Lagos and other states in their moves to collect Value Added Tax.
Umahi stated this at a dinner organised in honour of a former Chief of Army Staff and Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Amb. Tukur Buratai, on Monday night.
Umahi said Ebonyi was solidly and would continually throw its weight behind the Federal Inland Revenue Service’s collection of VAT.
Speaking at the dinner held at the Governor’s Lodge, Centenary City, Abakaliki, Umahi reiterated that state would not support any of the states collecting VAT, adding “Evil will continue to thrive if good people keep quiet.”

Kwara motorist slaps tricycle rider over broken car light, victim dies
A motorist, Kayode Oluwatomi, has allegedly beaten a tricycle operator, Kola Adeyemi, to death in Ilorin, Kwara State, after the latter broke the parking light of his Honda Bullet car.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the incident happened on Monday around 5pm in the Gerin Alimi area of the metropolis.
Our correspondent learnt that Adeyemi, aka Daddy Samuel, hit the car, with number plate, BX 954 AJL, at the back, breaking the parking light, valued at N2,500.
A witness, who did not identify himself, said the tricycle rider begged to pay N2,000 for the damage, but the motorist rejected the money.
