Recognition of Shedrack Ozoemena: Enugu State Gov Dr. Peter Mbah developing and sponsoring sports amongst our youths
Enugu State House of Assembly has officially recognized Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo (boxing coach) and Shedrack Ozoemena (boxer) one of the results of boxing bout for Enugu State Boxer in 70 to 75kg (Middle Weight) Category.
Shedrack Ozoemena Chukwuebuka (a.k.a Debull – Nwa Nike) won the Bronze medal in Boxing at Middle Weight Class (75kg Category), during the 22nd National sports festival held in Abeokuta Ogun State.
Shedrack Ozoemena Chukwuebuka (De Bull Nwa-Nike) defeated Alude Muyiwa of Oyo State on points decision to advance in pursuit of Medal in Boxing event on 22nd May 2025 at 22 National Sports Festival Abeokuta Ogun State.
Enugu State House of Assembly also recognized Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, the Boxing Coach who discovered and trained the boxer, Shedrack Ozoemena during his grassroot boxing hunt in the 17 LGAs in Enugu state. Mazi Okoronkwo is the Co ordinator of Speaker
Enugu State House of Assembly Boxing Project.
The event of the recognition took place on 5th June 2025 during plenary of Enugu State House of Assembly .
The recognition was based on the report of Chairman House Committee on Youth and Sports Development and Security matters Hon Raymond Ugwu during plenary at Enugu State House of Assembly who explained how Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Boxing Project has help to reshape their Constituency’s responsibilities. He further call on other members to take a lead from the positive outcome of Speaker Boxing project to expand dividends of democracy to other constituencies.
After General acceptance of the continuation of the Boxing Project The Speaker Enugu House of Assembly Rt Hon Uche C Ugwu Commended ALGON Enugu State Chapter for sponsorship of the grass root Boxing talent hunt in the 17 LGA’s of Enugu State.
He encouraged ALGON to continue with the project considering the acknowledged positive impact to the Youth,
The Speaker also thank Governor of Enugu State . Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his support for the success of the Boxing project.
The Chairman House committee on Youth and Sports and Security matter whom was the Presenter of the report was directed by the Hon Speaker to write appreciation letter to the Governor of Enugu State.
In conclusion. The Rt Hon Speaker thank the Action Committee on sports literacy team especially the Technical Coach Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo for his good work and urge him to continue the good work so that more boxers will be prepared for 23rd National Sports Festival that will be hosted in Enugu State in 2026.
