The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife on Wednesday distributed educational materials to 131 primary and secondary schools in Anambra Central Senatorial District.
This was done during an event held at Senator Uche Ekwunife Centre Awka where the Senator presented the items to the School Principals and Head Mistresses.
While presenting the items, the Senator noted that the educational materials were meant to assist the schools in teaching as well as support the parents of pupils and students in providing educational materials for their wards. She urged the principals and headmistresses to ensure that the materials were judiciously distributed to the students.
Reacting to the Senator’s gesture, the Headmistress, Community Primary School, Akwa-Ukwu, Mrs Anthonia Akunna lauded the Senator for finding it necessary to support teaching and learning in schools. She prayed God to continue to guide, protect and reward her. Mrs Akunna assured that the materials will be fully utilized by the schools for the purpose of meeting the learning needs of students.
In the same light, the Representative of Merchant of Light Oba while describing the Senator as a mother noted that the distributed items will go a long way in helping the students achieve their academic goals.
Mrs Rose Osote and Mrs Nwazulum Nneka of Union Primary School Nibo and Central School Umuawulu respectively in their seperate speeches appreciated the Senator on behalf of the schools in Awka South local government area.
66 Secondary schools and 65 Primary schools benefited from the programme.
The distributed materials include, Mathematical Sets, Lantern Text Books, Exercise Books, Magnetic Boards & Dusters, Magnetic Board Markers, Chalks, Calculators, Dictionaries, A4 Papers and Writing Materials.
