Senator Umeh: Sentiments Of Biafra
Spread the love

“The sentiments of Biafra had been resonating because of the feeling of marginalization of a people. I was 8 years old when the war ended, I am now 54 years old and people are still taking about Biafra that became defunct in 1970.

“If the successive federal governments of Nigeria from Gowon till today had done the right thing, nobody will be talking about Biafra anymore.

“The mismanagement of the fallout of that war is responsible for the agitation you are seeing.

“From 1970 to now; all the things said in 1970 non had been giving effect – no victor, no vanquished.

“When a people feel that they are no longer equal citizens in their own country, of course they will not accept it.

“If you continue to maintain discriminatory attitude towards a people, if you push them to the wall, you revive their sentiments of dissent.”
