Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu has withdrawn the suit he filed against Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The Deputy Governor had filed an anti-impeachment suit at a High Court Abuja against Obaseki.
The suit with reference number: FHC/ABJ/CS/1027/2023, was seeking to stop the governor from making attempts to impeach him.
But in a statement he personally signed, Shaibu who has been at loggerheads with the Edo helmsman, also described the governor as his boss and senior brother.
Listed as defendants in the suit were the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Department of State Services (DSS), Edo Governor and the Chief Judge of Edo State.
Giving his reasons for withdrawing the case, the Deputy governor said some well-meaning Edolites, and Nigerians, have held meetings with him and his principal.
He said such individuals include the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leaders, traditional rulers and his spiritual leader His Grace Most Rev’d Dr. Augustine Akubeze, insisting he cannot ignore them.
“I, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Philip Shaibu, have authorised and instructed my solicitors to withdraw the suit forthwith,” he added.
“I also wish to place on record my special thanks to Mr. Governor, my boss and senior brother, for this path of peace.”
