Traders at Oseokwodu Protest Against Embezzlement Sanitation Levy, Stallage Fees by Previous Administration

No feweer than thousand of Traders in Oseokwodu Market Onitsha in Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State recently protested against the alleged embezzlement of their their Sanitation Levy for 2022 and Stallage fees of 2021 by the former Caretaker Committee Chairman, Anthony Onwutieaka , known as emperor in the market.
Despite the frantic efforts by the State Governor professor Charles Soludo to boost the state’s revenue profile, to enable him achieve his missions and visions in the developmental plans of the state , there are individual, who have deliberately thwarted the effort by syphoning the revenue money ment for State Government.

Traders who expressed their sadness on this ugly development, totally condemned the manner in which the alleged Tony Onwutieaka used to collect revenue accrues to the state government without remittance to Government coffer .
They requested that Anthony Onwutieaka should be made account and pay back Sanitation Levy 2022 and Stallage fees and provide the e-receipt of the payment
and appealed to state government to call him to order as traders don’t want a state of choas in oseokwodu hence he has no Monopoly of causing troubles .
According to them,the present Care taker Committee Chairman in the market have been able to fish out those short changing the state government on the payment of stallage fees and eulogized governor Soludo for giving them this Present leader who have made traders to heave a sign of relief with smooth running of their business.
Speaking to Newsmen on behalf of the Concerned Stakeholders of Oseokwodu market , Onitsha,Ogey Nnajiofor said that , their former Care taker Committee Chairman started collecting Sanitation Levy and Stallage fees when State government has ordered that the collection of revenue in the market should be stopped until after inauguration of the present administration.
But upon the directives,he went and collected the monies, embezzled them and at the same time locked up shops of those who questions why he went to collect revenues when the state government gave directives not to collect yet.
They described it as very unfortunate that Onwuteaka failed to obey order from Government and appealled to State Governor to Wade into this nefarious act, as Anambra State Government deserves undiluted support of every market, with a supportive market leaders .
“Collecting revenues that accrues to the state Government is a tabo no matter whose ox is goe”.
He called on the state government to address the issues and bring him to book so that bit will serve as deterrent to others.
Mean while, series of effort made to speak with alleged former Care taker Committee Chairman Anthony Onwuteaka proved abortive as the line is switched off and not available.
