A youth group under the aegis of “Concerned Uzo-Uwani Youth Movement” has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi led administration for its large deposit of infrastructure across Uzo-Uwani LGA of Enugu State, while asking the Governor to take a further step by asphalting the roads when completed.
Rising from its first meeting since the novel Coronavirus Pandemic hit the globe, the youth body explained that the group’s convergence became necessary, following the need to deliberate on the contentious issues of road network-facing Uzo-Uwani Local Government.
Speaking to news men shortly after the meeting, President of the Movement, Comrade Opata Igbo thanked His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the many road projects going on across the Council Area, while assuring the Governor of the youths’ support to ensure the Governor’s goals of creating access roads to rural communities are achieved.
“We thank the Governor for his wonderful job in Uzo-Uwani. It does not call for argument that before Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration, Uzo-Uwani could not boast of 1km tarred State/Local Government road across the council area.
“But now the 26 km Nimbo-Ugbene-Ajima-Eziani Nsukka Road is at its completion. The Onugbogbo, Nkpologu to Umulokpa (the Council Headquarters) road is currently receiving speedy earth Work, while about 45km Abbi-Ezikolo Autonomous Community/Nrobo-Edem Nsukka road is also currently receiving Standard earth Work.
“We can now comfortably agree that Uzo-Uwani Is part of Enugu State, ” he explained
He however, stressed that the importance of good road network in a place like Uzo-Uwani, where farming is a profession cannot be overemphasized, while pleading with His Excellency the Governor who coincidentally is from the zone not to relent in his good work in the LGA as posterity will be kind to him.
“OUR only plea to the Governor is to extend his hands of fellowship to the Onugbogbo/Umulokpa and Edem-Nsukka to Abbi road by asphalting the two major link roads as that will stamp his love for Ndi Uzouwani on the sand of history.
“The Governor is our last hope and if he abandons those projects without asphalt, no other government will do it in this century and it is going to be a huge wast of resources if we allow a Virgin road that has been Constructed to this level to go back to its unusual conditions.
Opata Igbo further maintained that THE CONCENERNED UZO-UWANI YOUTH MOVEMENT Living abroad and those of them at home were ready to donate money if the need arises provided the projects going on in Uzo-Uwani currently received best attention which at the end shall be named after his Exellency (UGWUANYI ROAD).
