The Police Command in Kaduna State has arrested two suspects over killing of Abdulkarim Na-Allah, the eldest son of Sen. Bala Ibn Na’Allah, in Kaduna.Na’Allah is the Senator representing Kebbi South senatorial district.
The command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the development to the News Agancy of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.Jalige said: “Yes two suspects were arrested a week ago in Kaduna.”….

The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, directed the immediate emergency repairs on Sections of highways where failure had occurred due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall in five states across the country.
Fashola who gave the directive Tuesday at a briefing meeting in Abuja named the roads for immediate intervention to include Ibadan – Ife road, Gombe – Bauchi road, Gombe – Darazo; Bauchi – Ningi, Bida – Lambata, and Tsamiya bridge in Jigawa State, also assured of continuous attention to other roads with similar problems….

Why do states fail? In this Column, we have tried to meditate on the concept of state failure in relation to theNigerian predicament. As a reminder to my much-cherished gentle reader, the indicators of state failure include: mounting democratic pressures; refugees or internally displaced persons resulting in complex humanitarian emergencies; legacy of vengeance-seeking group grievance or group paranoia;
chronic and sustained human flight; uneven economic development along group lines; sharp and/or severe economic decline; criminalisation and/or delegitimisation of the state; deterioration of public services; suspension or arbitrary application of the rule of law and widespread violation of human rights; security apparatus operates as a “State Within a State”; emergence of factionalised elites; and intervention directly or indirectly….
