PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has less than two years in office. Indeed, he has about 19 months from until May 29, 2023 when he is constitutionally required to hand over to the next president chosen through the ballot box.
He has spent 77 months in office. And he cannot elongate his tenure because the Constitution bars him from serving more than two terms. It is good for every administration to take stock as it inches closer to the lame duck corridor.
What has been done? What is left to be achieved? Answering such questions honestly ensures that an administration leaves office on a high note….

Anambra Elections: We have uncovered plans to scuttle process —IGP Alkali
Ahead of the November 6th, 2021 Anambra Governorship elections, Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has revealed that the Police is in possession of intelligence showing that subversive elements are planning to threaten the process and the smooth conduct of the election.
Consequently, the IGP has tasked Squadron Commanders of Police Mobile Force and their units that will be deployed for the elections to ensure they deter the elements by being ruthless noting, “The task of securing our democratic values and guarantying a safe, secure and credible electoral process in Anambra state will rest squarely and majorly on some of you, the Squadron Commanders”……

Clash: Imo indigene Military officer killed in Izombe clash —Govt
The Imo state government on Monday said one of the two Military officers killed in last Friday’s clash in the Izombe community between members of the gang of the deceased Obele and the Military officers was an indigene of Imo State.
The Imo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri while sympathising with the victims of the ugly incident and those whose houses were burnt.
He said the military officers came on the invitation of the villagers who placed a distress call across to the military over a security threat allegedly caused by the Obele and his loyalists and that when the military wanted to arrest Obele, he refused and engaged the military with his gun.…..

School dropouts in Kankara LG of Katsina hit 75% – Report
A report just released has indicated that 75 per cent of children in Kankara Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina state drop out of school upon completing primary school.
Alhaji Isa Muhammad, Secretary of the Katsina state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), disclosed this on Wednesday, in Kankara, while quoting the report of a survey conducted by UNICEF, at the launch of the back-to-school and dissemination of behavioural campaign in Kankara.
The programme, which was launched on Tuesday, in Katsina, is being implemented, in collaboration with UNICEF and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the UK.…..
