Welder mistakenly Set Shuttle Bus On Fire Trying To Repair It In Anambra

At about 4.40pm, a shuttle bus was reported to have caught fire in a welders workshop along Ifite Road, Awka.

  1. According to the driver, Mr Ekene Oti (m), 23 years old, who just graduated from the department of Industrial Chemistry, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the welder was welding the seat in the vehicle, when suddenly fire started coming out from under the vehicle. It got so intense that they had to push the vehicle outside the workshop in other to avert greater damage.
  2. The obstructions caused by the Hijet shuttle bus with registration number, HTE733YD was cleared by FRSC Operatives, who are also on ground controlling traffic.
    The Sector Commander FRSC Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, called the Fire Service immediately the information was received. They were able to extinguish the fire immediately, on arrival at the scene.
