“You Are Wrong, You Erred In Law” - Obaseki Fumes At Tribunal

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has expressed his disappointments against the decision of their Lordships, Hon. Justice Yunusa Musa, Hon. Justice Suleiman Yahaya and Hon. Justice Olufunmilayo O. Stanley – saying the Judges erred in law for deferring ruling to his application till the final judgement at the tribunal.

The Governor who approached the Court of Appeal sitting in Benin, over his dissatisfaction with the ruling of the Edo State Election Governorship Petition Tribunal sitting in Benin City demanding that the refusal of the tribunal to strike out the names of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the petition of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) be reversed.

While contending that the decision of tribunal was a miscarriage of justice, Obaseki said the judges erred in law when they refused to rule in his favour, an application be brought before the tribunal – Obaseki said, “it was the most expedient thing to do”. He feared saying he would be “greatly prejudiced in the trial with the retention of the 4th Respondents (Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu) and 5th Respondents (APC) in the petition”.

Recall that the governor had appealed a ruling of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja over his alleged certificate forgery and perjury trial seeking a stay of proceedings until the determination of the Court of Appeal to strike out some paragraphs the the petition filed by Williams Edobor and APC, but the Governor was reprimanded and told to return to the trial court for expeditious hearing.

However, just in less than 24 hours, the governor was back to the appellate court Holden in Benin city, seeking another frivolous and vexatious action.
