2023: Fayemi faulted over silence on zoning
An All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Segun Agbalajobi, has criticised the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, over his silence about the contentious issue of zoning of the governorship slot in next year’s election.
Agbalajobi, who said the governor’s silence over the issue and his alleged plot to impose a candidate on the state was putting the party in a difficult position.
He advised that all aspirants should be given a level-playing ground.
The APC chieftain in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, challenged Fayemi to “speak out and allow for level playground for all aspirants across the three Senatorial districts”.
He said, “For the past 22 years of democracy in Ekiti, there has never been a time anybody from the southern part of the state was denied or asked not to contest.
2023: Fayemi faulted over silence on zoning
“From the first executive governor of Ekiti, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; to the present governor, Dr Fayemi, we have never been ruled in Ekiti by any anointed candidate of any political god-father.
“If truly democracy is the government of the people by the people and for the people, then the idea of zoning and party supremacy is out of it. The game of democracy from time is a game of numbers,”he said.
