Many Nigerian Universities React To Viral “Fake Professor’s List”
The National Universities Commission (NUC) earlier issued a rebuttal to the viral “fake Professor’s list.”
No Fake Professors in FUTA
The attention of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has been drawn to a purported list of fake professors making the rounds on various media platforms.
It would have completely ignored the patently false information but for the spurious claim that some names on the concocted list were identified as belonging to the University.
The claim is not only baseless but completely fictitious.
The names paraded under FUTA are pure fiction and no such names exist in the staff list of the University .
Names of all bonafide members of staff and those in the professorial cadre are listed in the University Calendar. And the names of all Professors in the University can also be accessed in the Order of Proceedings for the 33rd Convocation Ceremony which was published in December 2023
Members of the general public are therefore enjoined to completely disregard the fictitious publication and treat those circulating it as purveyors of lies and falsehood.

BUK has no fake Professors – Vice Chancellor
The Management of Bayero University, Kano, has noticed the circulation of a purported fake publication on social media on the discovery of some 100 fake Professors working in Nigerian Universities.
Without hesitation, we wish to unequivocally state that the alleged publication was malicious, doctored and fallacious capable of denting Bayero University’s hard-earned reputation.
The purported publication maliciously claimed to have discovered 20 of such fake Professors working in BUK. We emphatically deny the existence of such in our highly reputable institution of learning, which can be attested to by the recent global rankings released by internationally reputable universities accessors
Equally, it should be noted that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had denied the existence of any fake professors in our universities,” Professor Abbas said.
He drew the attention of members of the general public that the said 20 fake Professors are not staff of the University, “as they only exist in the figment of the imagination of the authors of the fake news
The Management, therefore, called on the public to disregard the said publication “as not only fake but also with the intent to destroy the reputation of Nigerian universities by some enemies of progress.
For the avoidance of doubt, Bayero University, Kano places greater premium on quality and standards in all its activities, a policy which has contributed to attaining feats and recognition amongst tertiary institutions of learning in the world.
It should be on record that recently, BUK ranked as the 5th best University in Nigeria in terms of research, training and quality of academic programmes and 2nd best in Nigeria in terms of international outlook by the United Kingdom-based Times Higher Education.
In addition, the University was adjudged as 3rd best value University for International students by another international educational database assessor by Study Abroad Aide, based on South Korea. All these feats were as a result of the University’s quality output of highly qualified staff and competent graduates.
In the light of the above, members of the public are advised to disregard the publication.

Purported fake professors, not known to UNILORIN — Management
The attention of the management of the University of Ilorin has been drawn to a trending list of 100 fake professors in some universities in the country as purportedly uncovered by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Even though the NUC has dissociated itself from the list that first surfaced in December 2019, we deem it expedient to categorically disown the 11 so-called professors listed against the University of Ilorin in the recenly exhumed report.
None of the persons on the list is on our University ‘s nominal roll, nor had any of them ever had any dealing with the University of Ilorin at any time or in any guise.
This clarification is necessary to assure our esteemed stakeholders that UNILORIN’s well-heeled reputation for high integrity and strict adherence to best global practices in everything we do, especially on issues of staff promotion, remains unsoiled and it can never be compromised.
We view the trending report as another antic of purveyors of fake news and mischief makers, and they should be rightly ignored.
