Lagos DSVA Set To Engage 1 Million People In Door-To-Door Engagement Activities

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency DSVA has commenced a Door-to-Door enlightenment campaign on Sexual and Gender Based Violence in a bid for the residents of Lagos State to be aware of the support services they can access at the Agency.

The program which commenced yesterday will run for 3 months to enable residents the ability to speak up and also report cases of abuse in their various communities.

At the door to door engagement activity, the Executive Secretary, DSVA, Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi stressed the need to re-orientate residents continually by laying emphasis on the importance of reporting through the toll free line – 08000-333-333.

Vivour-Adeniyi, who was represented by the Head Community Engagement called on all to support the efforts of government by speaking up on domestic and gender based issues in order to eradicate the menace from the society.

She emphasized that the Agency would be visiting various local government areas to propagate the SGBV message through the key relevance of reporting the cases as at when it occurs.

She noted that researches and perception surveys would be carried out during the 3 months of the engagement to ascertain lasting and enduring avenues to end the menace.

The places visited yesterday were schools, mosque, churches, market and motor parks in Kosofe local government.

In the course of the engagement, souvenirs and educational materials were distributed to residents in the State. Almost 5000 residents were reached yesterday.
