AFCON 2023: Ex international boxer, hails Tinubu

The ex international boxer, and sports Ambassadors, Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo has hailed president Ahmed Tinubu for his immediate appreciate on Nigeria’s Super Eagle players for winning the silver medal in the just ended African Cup Of Nations football game.

Recall Nigeria lost the Cup to Ivory Coast after 1:2 win, and was immediately recognized by the president for their hard works to bring home the cup of nations even though luck wasn’t on their sides.

Mazi Okoronkwo, in a voice note sent to Chrysora Media, hailed president Tinubu for fully recognizing and appreciating these men who sacrificed their lives in football to make Nigeria proud. According to him, football game is a risky one, so any footballer is making sacrifices with his live and as such, should be appreciated for the bravery work.

Mazi Okoronkwo maintained that this single act from the President has shown that President has grassroot sports at heart for the development of youths in the country. Lamenting on how sports in Nigeria is being ignored and used as politics in so many states and local governments, Mazi Okoronkwo called on all the governors and local government heads to imitate their president, towards loving and encouraging grassroot sports, as well as recognizing any Super Eagles player from their states.

Furthermore, the Sports Ambassador, Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo urged also for the encouragement of any grassrooot sports activities solely initiated to progress the state and engage the youths meaningfully.
