Police Arrest Motorcycle Robbers Who Spray Pepper On Victims In Lagos
Police in Lagos State have arrested two members of an armed robbery gang that specialized in spraying pepper to rob commercial motorcyclists.
The suspects had attacked a motorcyclist in an attempt to snatch his bike when residents of Obasanjo Bridge area of Alagbado apprehended and handed them over to the Police.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Ben Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest said that the police are on the trail of other members of the gang.
“On 15/02/24 at about 07: 30 hrs, a report was received from a motorcyclist that at about 06:30 hrs, two men, who were later identified as Ayuba Oyegbele and Ojo Gbolahan stopped him at Ogo Oluwa, Alagbado that he should take them to Obasanjo bridge,” the PPRO stated.
“However, on getting to the Obasanjo bridge, Ojo Gbolahan came down and pretended as if he wanted to pay the motorcyclist.
“But instead, he brought out dry pepper and blew it into the rider’s eyes and in the process, the duo started dragging and beating the rider with the intention of robbing him of his motorcycle.
“Fortunately, the passers-by, who saw how the rider was shouting for help, came around to rescue him while the suspects made attempts to escape.
“They were overpowered and taken to Alagbado Police Station.
“Investigations revealed that the suspects are in the habit of robbing motorcyclists,” he added.
