The Osun State Police Command has arrested a young man that allegedly killed his colleague with magic ring while playing a football match in Iwo, Osun State.
The suspect, identified as Lateef Ahmed was playing football with the deceased, Shuaib Isola, and other youths of their age, at St Mary’s Grammar School football field, before an argument that led to a fight occured, an eyewitness disclosed.
The eyewitness further claimed that the deceased was hit by Ahmed with some sort of magic ring which made the deceased to collapse on the spot.
Efforts made by people around the venue to revive the deceased via first aid proved abortive and he was later rushed to the General Hospital in the town, where he was confirmed dead by doctors.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the development when contacted. She explained that the duo engaged in a fight during the football match in the area, and the deceased was struck with a fist by Ahmed, who lived at Atanda Road in Iwo.
She added that the deceased, after having collapsed from the encounter, was rushed to the General hospital in the town, where he was confirmed dead.
However, according to Opalola, the deceased parent did not allow autopsy to be carried out on him before they evacuated his remains to their family house.
Opalola further assured the public that the command would investigate the incident, in order to make the suspect face the wrath of the law, if found guilty.
