Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has won the Budweiser Goal of the Month award, after his stunning strike against West Bromwich Albion was voted the best in November.
The 24-year-old’s strike saw off competition from Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez, Southampton duo Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Solly March, Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Leeds United’s Raphinha.
Aina’s recognition makes him the first Fulham player to win the Goal of the Month award since Andre Schurrle’s triumph in January 2019.
“It was a good strike!” Aina said of his goal. It came on to my left and I just felt comfortable to strike it as hard as I could.
“It was good for the team. It lifted our spirits and we’ll try to build on that.”
The Nigeria international returned to England in the summer to provide defensive options for Fulham gained promotion to the Premier League.
They have the option to sign him on a permanent deal when his loan from Serie A club Torino expires at the end of the season.
