Philanthropist in Anambra Community Launches Football Talent Hunt for Anambra Indigenes

A Nigerian Businessman and Philanthropist, Chief Great Chinedu Akpunonu ( A.k.a Oborosho) in Ozubulu Community , Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, has launched a vitual talent and set to kick-start Football Tournament as a way of harnessing football talents for local, national and international engagements.

Great Chinedu Akpunonu, made the disclosure while speaking during an Annual Ozubulu Youths Champion League kick-off held at St. Mathew’s Field, Egbema Ozubulu, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.

Speaking shortly after the kick off ceremony, Chief Great Chinedu Akpunonu , charged the players to use the opportunity offered them to rise to their peak, emphasizing that sports development should not be left for the government alone as the private sector and well meaning individuals should always assist in developing it.

While addressing supporters at St. Mathew’s Field recently, Chinedu said that the project was to empower some youths in Anambra State indigenes and residents.

According to him, “Grassroots competition of this nature is always an avenue to harness talents, and I hope it is going to be a rewarding venture, and i will continue to support the annual Ozubulu youth league, as I have been sponsored for over ten years now,” he said.

Great Chinedu ( Oborosho) however disclosed that various cash prizes should be given out to the winners, in what he said promises to be the first of its kind in the country.

He also said that his aim of sponsoring Ozubulu Youths Champion League was to assist the youths to discover and believe in themselves.

“It is another way to restore peace and harmony , bind the youths together, which will foster unity and cordial relationship among youths in Ozubulu”.

He pledged to sponsor this 2021 December Ozubulu Youth Champion Leagues Competition, which he said, is a major player in grassroots football development that would help scout for youths.

Oborosho noted that his major concentration of Ozubulu All Stars would be on the U-16 and U-18 where he would pick talents.

“We will be taking care of the trophy, price money, and in addition to that, we will also provide balls for the tournament and compensate some teams with soccer balls as I did in January 7th 2021 where Great Football Club of Ozubulu defeated Zina Football Club with 3 goals to 2.
