Okowa To Flag Off DELCOM 2021 On Monday December 20, In Asaba.
…As International Press Centre Donates Books To 150 Registered Participants.
Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, will on Monday December 20, deliver a keynote address on his 6th Year Amazing Scorecard and flag off of the third edition of Delta State Communication Workshop, DELCOM 2021, in Asaba, the State capital.
Delcom Coordinator and Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Communications, Olorogun Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, JP said in a statement on Thursday 16th December, that the governor will be accompanied to the opening ceremony by some members of the state executive council, party leaders and senior government officials.
He further disclosed that a global media network organisation, the International Press Centre, IPC, in Lagos, has donated books that will also enhance the capacity and knowledge of the 150 participants registered for the third edition of Delta State Communication Workshop – DELCOM 2021.
Oghenesivqbe said the three books donated are; Issues In Frameworks, Freedom of Expression And Internet Rights in Nigeria; Reporting Electoral Campaign Finances: An FOI Manual for Journalists; and Question Marks with the 6th NBC Code Amendments.
He said his office will work closely with the management of International Press Centre in 2022, to ensure that the Workshop is well projected at the global stage by inviting world class trainers from other jurisdictions, adding that the books shall be distributed free of charge to registered participants and trainers.
“We thank the management of International Press Centre, IPC, for donating some books to enhance the knowledge of DELCOM 2021 participants.
“The Office of the Eacgovdelta will work closing with IPC next year to take DELCOM to greater heights by inviting world class trainers from other jurisdictions,” Oghenesivbe assured.
The Head of Department of Mass Communication, Delta State University, Abraka, Dr Joyce Ogho Ogwezi, will oversee the affairs of DELCOM 2021, as Chief Trainer.
Dr Don Pedro Obaseki, a seasoned communication strategist and former Managing Director of African Independent Television, AIT, and Dr Olubunmi Ajibade, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos, as well as Dr Monday Ashibogwu, a renowned ICT/Online Media Consultant will be in attendance to systematically take participants through training modules and latest trends in strategic communication and media management.
