Mazi Okorokwo Extends Boxing Talent Hunt To Involve All Enugu Communities

Having observed the youths’ zeal and readiness to be empowered through boxing, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, Ex international boxer and Ambassador for sports in boxing, decided to extend grassroot boxing talent hunt to touch all the communities in Enugu to make sure that all the youths have equal opportunity to be empowered.

Recall that Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo embarked on the program of Grassroot Boxing Talent Hunt in all the LGAs in both Abia and Enugu states last year. This program which he has successfully accomplished said to have boasted his quest to ensure that he fights unemployment, insecurity and other challenges faced in Nigeria in his own little way.

The Ex international boxer, who still never relented, visited Umuode Community in Nkanu West on Wednesday, 12th Jan 2022 and discovered 5 potential boxers.

Speaking to Chrysora Media who has monitored this program from the very beginning to the end, Mazi Okoronkwo said that the shift of the 17 LGA 2021 State finals of grassroot boxing talent hunt exercise to First quarter of 2022 has become an advantage to Umuode Community in Nkanu East LGA and all the communities at large.

Speaking further he said “the main purpose of the grass root boxing talent hunt is to discovered potential boxers from any Community in the state for further development therefore when there is any delay caused by unforeseen circumstances, our team has to adjust to create more opportunity to give the public the desired result”

“The 2021 Enugu State grassroot boxing talent hunt exercise was concluded by Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo and closed in 2021 December when there was a thought that the state finals would hold in last year December. Due to that, opportunities for further boxing talent hunt have been open for 2 weeks before date of State Finals and award nite at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium will be announced” he said.

“The visitation of Umuode Community is in view to reopening of 2021 already concluded selection of 17 LGA,s boxers meant to get the best among the best in Enugu State for the interest of fair play in the State finals of the boxing talent hunt.
Even though the above opportunity was created due to certain circumstance beyond our control but we have to take the advantage of the delay to make our event to deliver more dividend of Democracy) Because in all thing we must give Glory to God” he concluded.
