House Of Rep Member leads Protest over bad road in Anambra
By Eneh Victor
Let’s commend the courage and boldness of Hon John Nwokoye popularly known as More Money in mobilizing ndi Awka north LGA to a protest over the condition of roads in the local govt council.
Awka north LGA has been neglected by successive govts. The LG is a weeping child in the state. Hon John Nwokoye had used every legislative approach to draw the attention of the state govt to the bad condition of the roads in the constituency, but all his efforts ended in unfulfilled promises.
The past governors only come to Awka north during electioneering campaigns, make promises and abandon the LGA once they get into office. Hon Nwokoye as a worthy lawmaker has severally called for emergency to be declared on roads in the constituency but the APGA govt seems not to be interested on the plight of ndi Awka
With the continued suffering of his people, Hon Nwokoye decided to take the bull by the horn and led his people in a demonstration round the communities in Awka north LGA to further draw the attention of the state govt to the worsening condition of the roads in the area.
His people chanted in solidarity, carrying placards bearing various inscriptions. They walked from Ifite-Isu junction in Isuaniocha through Amanuke to a section of Achalla.
Hon. John Nwokoye who spoke during the protest told AIF Media reporter that the condition of the Constituency had continued to give him a great concern. “Recall during a budget defence of the Ministry of Work in 2019, I strongly asked the question if Awka North was still part of Anambra and vowed to lead demonstration, not minding my second tenure chances, if nothing is done to address the ugly situation”, he revealed.
Assuring that he strongly believe in the plans of the new administration of Prof Chukwuma Soludo, Hon John Nwokoye called on him to take very serious the SOS call on ndi Awka North, and not toe the part of his predecessor.
At Amansea junction by Enugu-Onitsha express, the lawmaker also addressed residents and call on Soludo to deliver the Constituency from the enumerated setbacks. He promised to continue partnering with the governor to ensure that their worries are addressed.
