Anambra CP Strengthens Security Strategy, Delivers ₦59m Welfare Cheques to Families of Fallen Officers

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, convened a strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) aimed at revitalizing security operations across the state.
The high-level meeting, held at the Command Headquarters in Awka, focused on reviewing operational frameworks, boosting intelligence-led policing, and reassessing progress in ongoing criminal investigations.
Addressing the commanders, CP Orutugu charged them to intensify visibility patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-sharing mechanisms, stressing that professionalism, discipline, and community collaboration remain the bedrock of effective policing.
“We must remain committed to our constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property. The security gains we have recorded must be sustained through proactive strategies and close partnership with the communities we serve,” the CP declared.
The highlight of the gathering was the presentation of cheques worth ₦59,186,177.62 from the Inspector-General of Police’s Group Life Insurance/Family Welfare Scheme to 38 families of officers who died in active service. CP Orutugu described the gesture as a demonstration of the Force leadership’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of personnel and their families, affirming that the sacrifices of fallen officers would never be forgotten.
In addition, the Command extended financial support to the family of an Inspector who lost his life while gallantly repelling insurgents at Aguata. CP Orutugu reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to stand by the families of fallen heroes and continue honoring their legacies.
He further reassured Ndi Anambra of the Command’s determination to secure lives and property across the state, while urging the public to support the Police with credible intelligence to combat crime effectively.
