Amaokpala, Anambra State – The Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the Amaokpala Vigilante Group (AVG), has apprehended two suspects linked to an armed robbery incident and unlawful possession of a firearm. The arrest, made on January 24, 2025, followed a detailed intelligence-driven investigation.

This was disclosed in a press release issued by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations officer, Anambra State Command stated that the suspects, identified as 20-year-old Micheal Chinweze, alias “Small,” from Eziagu LGA in Enugu State, and 25-year-old Mmesoma Agba from Enugwu-Nanka, were found in possession of a pump-action gun, a mobile phone, a black handbag, and drug paraphernalia.

According to SP Ikenga, the development stems from a report filed on January 22, 2025, involving a robbery near Oko Community Hospital.

He also said that the suspects and an accomplice still at large allegedly dispossessed a victim of her belongings, including a red Cub motorcycle (Reg. No: WER 137 GV) valued at ₦1.3 million, a Techno mobile phone, an ATM card, and ₦38,000 in cash.

During interrogation, Micheal confessed to stealing the firearm from a hotel security post in Amaokpala. Investigations also revealed that Mmesoma’s first husband, a suspected gang member, had been neutralized by police during a previous operation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has directed the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Awka and urged operatives to intensify efforts in apprehending the remaining suspect.
