ANAMBRA STATE EDUCATION DIGITALIZATION SUMMIT (ANSEDS) 2022

Press conference held on Wednesday 9th February 2022 was to create awareness of the upcoming Anambra State Education Digitalization Summit which was slated to run for 2 days, 24-25 February 2022.

The conference which started at about 12:27pm featured The Honorable Commissioner For Basic Education, Prof Kate Azuka, Perm Sec Min Of Basic Education, Barr Mrs Nwando Obiano PhD, Chairman Anambra State Universal Basic Edu Board, Dr Franca Obi, Chairman Post Primary Sch Service Comm, Hon Ifeoma Okaro ably represented by Mrs Ngozi Muo, CEO Integral Developmental Konsults (IDK), Mrs Nweke with many members of the press, NUJ Anambra state and top Nigerian Media houses.

Welcoming the members of the press and the dignitaries present and Focusing on digital education in Anambra, CEO IDK Mrs Nweke began by introducing how far Anambra state have gone to move educational system of Anambra from Analogue to Digital.

Further speaking, Mrs Nweke, said that Anambra state govt under the governorship of Dr Willie Obiano is focused on developing an educational system in which both teachers and students can comfortably compete with any teacher or student from any part of the world, and the major way to achieve this is through ICT.

At this point, Hon Comm For Basic Education Prof Kate briefed the members of the press on the activities of the Ministry of Education for these 8yrs.

The Ministry has been on the mission to make Anambra state teachers professionals and on this note, trainings have been conducted and about 10000 teachers were trained while partnering with IDK, She said.

E-Conference was also done to enhance communication skills in teachers, which they all learnt well.

Here, Anambra state organises a summit as a follow up the already laid foundation of educational digitalization which first surfaced in 2020/2021.

What We Want The Press To Do

Prof Kate speaking to the press said we want the press to put people on the know about this summit. To create consistent awareness to ensure that teachers in both urban and rural areas will be fully aware and partake in this summit which will be both online and physical.

The summit is all about how to bridge this digital flaws in education

The first day of the summit is planned for selection of ICT complex to help achieve the goal at hand, introducing ICT into basic eduction that is, how to use technology in teaching.

The second day is for panel discussion with Gov obiano present, Special guest prof Charles soludo and other invited guests, also there wil have be a panel of educators and panel of ICT complex.

Areas to focus in the Summit (Sub-theme)

1. Access and affordable device, that is, how students and teachers can be able to own or afford the required ICT instrument.

2. Broadband, this is simply internet connectivity. Here focuses on how students and schools can have internet connections at affordable rate

3. E-content and E-behaviour

Some Uk based ICT organization will also narrate how to use app in leaning and the suppy of energy to the usage like solar, Zion energy (Germany) and EEDC

According to Comm for Basic Edu, Prof Azuka, after this summit, Anambra will have a blueprint on how to run digital education to benefit students and teachers.

4. Launching one student one laptop campaign

Chairman Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board ASUBEB, Dr Mrs Franka Obi thanks the planers and organizers of this summit for making a huge step to success of education in Anambra, she further said that she has started appealing and sensitizing teachers in almost all the local govt the importance of the summit to enable them participate fully.

Reacting to this, the Commissioner said the whole answers are not here. The summit is to kick off thinking processe, which can include private schools depending in the incoming admin.

She further said that we re all involved therefore there is also a way to stop the dangers that accompany internet accessibility.

Chairman Post Primary Sch Service Comm, Hon Ifeoma Okaro ably represented by Mrs Ngozi Muo informed the members of the press that necessary mediums of passing information to teachers both in the rural and urban areas will be fully applied.

Perm Sec Min Of Basic Education, Barr Mrs Nwando Obiano PhD, thanked the members of the press for honoring the invitation and look forward to working with them to ensure a successful summit.
