The Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO) has bestowed an award of Ambassador of Ethics and Conscience (AEC) as well as certificate of public conduct on the Chairperson, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) UNIZIK branch, Comrade Njideka Nwangwu.

The award was bestowed on Comrade Nwangwu on Wednesday, 24th July 2024 at the Conference Room of the College of Post Graduate Studies (CPGS) UNIZIK when officials of the Non-governmental organization visited the SSANU Chairperson.

Presenting the award, the Executive Director of CESVO, Ethicist (Prince) Salih Musa Yakubu informed that the award to Comrade Nwangwu and the issuance of ethical leadership and conduct compliance certificate is in recognition of the SSANU Chairperson’s enlistment amongst the top 100 highly rated most ethically responsible professionals in Nigeria for the 2023/24 year in focus.

Prince Yakubu disclosed that the certificate of public conduct issued to the UNIZIK SSANU Chairperson was based on the fact that she passed the NGOs ethical conduct and leadership integrity test (ECLIT) and enlisted amongst top 100 highly rated most ethically upright and less corrupt professionals in Nigeria contributing to citizens well being, national interest/volunteerism, integrity, members welfare and discipline.

In her response, Comrade Nwangwu who was scored 78 percent in character rating, dedicated the award to the entire members of SSANU UNIZIK branch and the EXCO while thanking the Union for giving her the opportunity to serve humanity.

The Union leader who narrated her experience in Unionism leadership which kick-started in 2008 as the scribe until 2016 when she emerged as the Chairperson till the present day said she is committed to the welfare of her members. Comrade Nwangwu promised to keep up with the good deeds which made the centre to find her worthy for the award and promised not to disappoint in her serve to God and humanity.

Also Letters of Commendation for Outstanding Professional Ethics Compliance and Quality Public Service Delivery in Union Management and Administration in Nigeria for the 2023/24 year under review were presented to other SSANU EXCOs such as Comrade Uche Okafor (Vice-Chairperson); Comrade Confidence Okafor (PRO); Comrade Kennedy Udechukwu (Assistant Secretary); Mrs Uche Sam-Chinweze (Financial Secretary) and Mrs Ijeoma John-Rufus (Woman Coordinator).

Highlights of the occasion was decorated of the SSANU Chairperson with a medal of honour, ACE ambassadorial muffler and certificates, commendation letters to SSANU EXCO members and group photograph.

Present during the special occasion is the Associate Provost (Humanities), CPGS UNIZIK, Professor Emmanuel Obidimma, staff members of the CPGS, friends and well wishers of Comrade Nwangwu.
