Coaches use boxers for betting, leaving them with little – Ex International Boxer laments.

Nigeria Ex International Boxer, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo has lamented that professional boxers are used by their coaches for betting only to leave them with little or nothing.

Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, Ambassador of Sports in boxing bittered by this observation, took his Social Media handle to express this for safety purposes, requesting the appropriate authorities to make investigation and brings defaulters to book.

He Wrote

I saw in the social media where Isreal mankinde the Light fly weight Gold medalist at the last National Sports Festival wearing Headgear in a fight with a professional heavy boxer (above him with about 10kg though Not wearing Head Gear) at Lagos.

The above sparring or fight is a dangerous boxing practice that is against the Safety Guidelines of Boxing.

On my enquiry it was discovered that certain professional and other coaches used these boxers for betting, and at the end will give them very little money like N10k or less.

I wish to use this medium to appeal to NBF to investigate the above reports and those organization that is involved for proper action before it will get out of hand.

Proper action will help to protect and save the lives of our innocent youths who have passion for boxing.

Otherwise the ugly incident or accident from the sparring session might attract the attention of Human Right Activist whom may use litigation process against the whole Boxing Family. Then it will affect Nigeria Boxing
