Nigeria Ex international boxer Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo is calling on various Technical unit of sporting association to respect Easter holidays while draftings program of event during National Sports Festival at Edo State , which arrival is from 2nd April 2021.
It is important to note that it will be against the spirit of fair play if any sporting event is played on Easter Sunday considering Nigeria position in religious.
Even though it is stated that No Religious sentiment in sports but that does not apply in fixing a date of sporting event in the same date of one of the world major religious event for an event that concerned Athlete that is a believer of that religious.
Any Sporting event fixed on Easter Day( the day marked for remembering the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ by all Christian ) would be against the spirit of fair play in sports.
In view of the above Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo is calling on Nigeria Boxing Association Technical unit to kindly readjust the propose Boxing event earlier scheduled to commence on Easter Sunday being 4/04/21 to another day for the interest of Peace and Unity .
Considering also that the event opening ceremony was announced to be on 06/04/21
It is believe that when the Interest of all the Athlete is considered. Nigeria Sports will grow faster.
Team Ikechukwu Okoronkwo is using this Medium to appeal to all the concerned official to please take immediate steps to shift any Event from Easter Day to another Day
