Rtd General Joseph Ayeni the Caretaker President of Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) want Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo to show interest for membership of the board set by Federal Government of Nigeria to control and promote the sports of Boxing and it cultural values in the country.
In a telephone call to Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo Nigeria ex international Boxer at His residence at South East Nigeria.
The Rtd Army General Joseph Ayeni from the Presidency said that the experience and creativity of Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo is much needed at National federation level which will position a Nigerian like Okoronkwo to occupy the space of Africa Nation at International Boxing Community.
In response the Sports Ambassador Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo hinted that the actualization of vision 2025 which aim and objective is to develop the youth of Abia State and other South Easter State in line to rekindle the Spirit of Boxing at zonal level with the mandate to help Nigeria to have strong Amateur Boxers to represent Nigeria at International Boxing outing is a priority.
However mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo said that he would prefer to render his professional advise to the board as an independent consultant while working at the grass root for the youth development.
The Ex International Boxer Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo however advised Rtd Gen Ayeni. The President of Caretaker Committee to strive harder with his international position in AIBA to get white Card from International Boxing Federation to enable Nigeria the tickets for boxing participation at Japan in Summer Olympic 2021 since Covid 19 pandemic had affected the Paris Olympics qualifications competition wherein Nigerian Boxing board earlier relied on.
