Harmonization or Increment: UNIZIK School Fees

On Monday, 12 July, 2021, the students of the prestigious University of all times (UNIZIK) took to the streets to protest the alleged hike in school fees.

The students are determined in staging the peaceful protest until their demands are met; reversing the school fees to the status quo before the present administration
The protest has disrupted academic activities in the past day owing to the fact that the academic system already has a lot to cover in short time as a resultant of the effect of the coronavirus pandemic.

The aim of this investigative report is to uncover the real scenario behind the UNIZIK fees saga.

Speaking to our correspondent, some students lamented the increase in the fees, especially the 100 level students while some others refuted the claim that there was a school fees hike.

A student from the physical science faculty (names withheld) confidentially told our correspondent that there was no increment in tuition fee save the matriculation, orientation, General Studies and the collection of transcript.

I’m convinced that the management of the institution is fully aware of the condition of things in the country, the inflation rate, the public outcry of extreme poverty and economy crash especially at this season of the year.

Not justifiable in any means, but when you look where education is headed to, if there’s no revamping and overhauling in the present system, we will continue to produce graduates that are in no way useful to this dispensation.

Harmonization or Increment: UNIZIK School Fees

Jobs were replaced with machines and the world is fast moving to an all IT savvy space.

For every change there is a price, development comes with it’s cost.

Some Developmental Strides of the New Administration

* Procurement of 465 Megabit bandwidth which is amongst the highest you can find in any school in this part of the world.
As early as 3am, students pull as much as 150 – 200 megabits in bandwidth.

Why is the school spending on internet?
The reason is that 21st century education that is still analogue will end up in futility.

* The new administration has created a clearance software which will enable students carry out their final year clearance without visiting any office.

* Improve the image of UNIZIK graduands in the society/labour market.

* Set up a career development and counselling unit saddled with the task of helping students find their placing and develop their careers.

* Digitization of the University. Personnel processes, auditing processes, mail tracking system, etc.

* in principle, the centre for excellence or Research Translation Centre (just like the silicon valley).
Students and staff can sell research works to be translated into reality.
