How Suspected herdsmen kill three IDPs in Benue
Suspected armed herdsmen have killed three internally displaced persons in Agagbe, Gwer West Local Government area of Benue State.
The victims were ambushed by the herders while they were fishing in a community near the camps in Agagbe on Monday, October 23, 2023.
Terna Jacob, the camp chairman, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday said that the victims had gone fishing at Gbange/Tomgov council ward when they were attacked and killed.
“Yesterday (Monday) morning, Iorhemba Cletus, 37 years old, of block 2 room 2 of IDP camp Agagbe, left for Gbange/Tomgov council ward together with two others to fish so they could sell and acquire food and other necessities for their families,” he said.
“However, the armed Fulani herders ambushed and killed them. Their bodies were later found and buried,”
The other two victims were identified as Akaa Clifford, 50, and Igbahemba Abua, 55.
“Akaa Clifford was planning to use the proceeds to provide food and settle the medical bills of his sick wife,” Terna added.
