Siminalayi Fubara has been sworn in as Governor of Rivers State, alongside Professor Ngozi Ordu as Deputy Governor.

Fubara was sworn in at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt on Monday.

He succeeded the former governor, Nyesom Wike, after winning the governorship election on March 25 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Professor Ordu is the second female to become Deputy Governor in the state.

Speaking during his first speech as governor of the state, Fubara assured residents of Rivers State of his resolve to continue in the leadership style of Governor Wike and build on his achievements.

He promised civil servants early payment of their monthly salaries, pensions, and gratuities.

“We will follow his footsteps to balance consolidation and continuity. We will consolidate the developmental strides of the previous administration. To the Rivers State House of Assembly, we will work together to advance the common interest and goal for all,” he stated.
