Mazi Okoronkwo calls on FG, Enugu govt to repair Ohodo, Ogbede road
The Nigerian Ex International boxer and Ambassador for sports boxing Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo has called on the federal government and Enugu state government to hurry to the aid of people living around Ohodo areas of Enugu over bad road that has been killing people.
Mazi Okoronkwo made this calling using a voice note he sent to Chrysora Media, on Wednesday 27th, August following his visit to those areas to present a boxer to his LGA.
His voice note said
My name is Mazi, Comrade Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, the Ex international.
I want to use this medium to call on the Minister for Works to come to the aid of the people living around Uhudu. Ohodo, Ogbede, as if you’re going to a 9th miles
.
That road has been cut off. The trailers carrying agricultural products to the northern Nigeria, they are suffering so much and this thing is contributing to the hike in food prices.
I am calling on the federal government to come to the aid of the southeasterners because that road is in a very, very deplorable condition.
When I went to Igbo-etiti to present the boxer that represented Igbo-etiti at the Speaker Boxing Talent Hunt and also under 15 boxing competition just concluded in Enugu, I tried to pass through Opi to Ogbede.
In fact, the road is so bad, it’s a death trap. I wonder why people have not been doing something about it.
In fact, for anyone that has seen that road and they have something to do in connection with that road and they don’t do anything, that person is not normal in reasoning. I have to say it. And all the stakeholders in those areas, I don’t think they are reasoning in the right direction.
For leaving that road to be like that, the road has been cut off and they have not given a very big, you know, consign to the Opi Abakpa road. And you can see even Opi Abakpa road, no trailer can pass there. So they are passing through the other way, the other road going through Ukehe.
So in fact, it is in a very, very, very bad condition. I’m calling on the federal government. In fact, I’m calling on President Tinubu to mandate the Minister of Works to do the needful over that road.
Let them take it as a matter of urgency. That road has killed many people and have destroyed a lot of economic value in those areas. I’ve seen it and it’s so bad.
It’s not something about politics, it’s about reality. And this is the kind of thing that causes people to be getting annoyed for what is happening in the system. So I’m calling on the federal government to speed up action and intervene on that road.
Opi Ohodo road is very, very bad. So the people that are capturing it should capture it well. You understand? Let it not be the one they will budget money, somebody will loot it and use it and run away from the country.
Let federal government make sure that they award that contract to somebody that will do it well. How much will it cost that federal government cannot afford it? If the state government can take up the project and do it and federal government will refund them. Please let the agency in charge come to the aid of the people.
Thank you.
