Obi Set to Deploy 50-Million Naira to Schools

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2019 elections, is set to disburse not less than 50-million Naira to schools across Nigeria.
This is part of events to mark his wife’s 50th birthday anniversary.
He disclosed this during a media session for the production of a documentary on the 10th anniversary of return of schools to missions in Anambra State, at Archbishop A.K Obiefuna Auditorium, Fides Media, Okpuno, Awka, the Anambra State capital, Wednesday, September 23, 2020,
He noted that they decided to deploy the money for better use; into a more befitting engagement than just partying.
The technocrat who described education as the bedrock of national development, said that it was the obligation of the government to run schools, adding that anyone who runs a school was doing the government a favour.
He said that the law authorizing the return of schools to the mission in Anambra was clear that it was the responsibility of the government to maintain the schools while the management and formation would be in the hands of those who are better equipped to do that, the mission/voluntary agencies.
