~Produced 73 New University Graduates

The Members of Senator Victor Umeh Education Foundation (VUMEF) yesterday witnessed yet another historical event as they held their annual get together in the Aguluzigbo home of their benefactor, Senator Dr. Victor Umeh (Ohamadike Ndigbo).

The ceremony which has become an annual event for the past fifteen years commenced with a Holy Mass presided by the Vicar General of Ekwulobia Diocese – Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Chiegboka.

At the event, the VUMEF Board headed by Very Rev. Fr. Peter Uzoezie (Chairman) and Mr Emeka Anetoh as Secretary disclosed that the Foundation recorded 73 graduates in the year of which 25 were from the 76 beneficiaries of the Anambra Central Scholarship scheme which he(Sen. Umeh) initiated while in the Senate and 48 others from the regular VUMEF grantees.

Fr. Peter Uzoezie further disclosed that among the 73 Graduates were Distinctions such as Master Cyril Nwanazoba from Etiti-Awovu village, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka LG who made 1st Class and Best Graduating Student in Chemical Engineering, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and Acolyte Chukwuemeka Paschal Atanalu from Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area, who graduated with First Class Honours (Summa Cum Laude Probatus), Pontifical Urban University Rome and will soon be ordained a Catholic Deacon and subsequently, a Priest.

He extolled Senator Victor Umeh and his supportive wife, Lady Prisca Umeh (Osodieme) for their untiring commitment and compassion in sustaining the Foundation through which many intelligent but less-privileged young people are empowered thereby giving hope to the hopeless.

In his remark, Senator Victor Umeh expressed satisfaction with the academic performance of the graduating beneficiaries and charged over hundred others to study hard and aspire for excellence in their academic performance.

He urged them to shun vices conspicuous amongst the students such as cultism which can prostrate their life aspirations.

In his words: “what is happening today is what gives me joy. Seeing these young ones, my children come out of the University in flying colors.

“I want this to equally inspire those who are yet to graduate to take their education seriously; study hard and shun cultism in school.

“They should take advantage of the opportunities provided by this Foundation to achieve your life aspirations.”

Nonetheless, Senator Umeh doled out a Ten Million Naira (₦10,000,000) Bank Draft to the Board for the first phase of the disbursements of school fees for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Among the beneficiaries are hundreds of undergraduate, masters and doctorate degree students as well as secondary schools beneficiaries and clergymen studying in various institutions across the country.

Notably, Senator Victor Umeh has equally assisted in securing employment opportunities for many graduates of the Foundation.
