It has been recorded that since the emancipation of the new Anambra state government in August 27th 1991. Our Town Okpuno have been marginalize so much in Awka-South L.G.A, as regards to government power & system of equation, especially in Constituency 1 which is made up of two community – (Okpuno and Awka).
Okpuno as a constituent town have their own Traditional Ruler and President general, but the unjust treatment we have received from our motherhood brother (Ndi Awka) is unparalleled.
From the year 1999 till date, Awka as a Town/community have been in domination of power in government house, as Federal House of Reps for 5 tenure(20 years), State House of Assembly for 6 tenure (24 years), also they have been serving the government as Commissioners for (24 years), served as State chairmen and L.G.A chairmen of political parties, and as well as Local government chairmen either Elected or caretaker for the past 16 years, Awka have been in Senate for 2 years, Awka people have held so many uncountable Political Positions/Appointments in government both in PDP regime and APGA for the past 24 years.
Yet they refuse to give their motherhood brother (Okpuno) their enfranchisement in the corridors of power for these past years since the emancipation of new Anambra…
We are equally talking about how the South-East are been marginalize in Nigeria government by the Northern, that is also what Okpuno constituent have been going through these past years, in government administration by our own brothers Awka Town.
We the Indigenous people of Okpuno Town, seek for Justice, Power shift, equity, & fairness from AWKA to OKPUNO come 2023 General Election.
