2025 Enugu state boxing rumble ended in praise

It was a successful fist of the bone as Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo concluded the 8th Edition of the Speaker Enugu state House of Assembly grassroot boxing talent hunt.

The event which was titled “Rumble in Enugu Boxing Championship” was held in the parliament Hall of PPSMB Headquarters, Enugu State. On 22nd October, 2025.
The event was used as the State finals of the 8th Edition Of Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Grass root Boxing Talent Hunt exercise in the 17 L.G.As of Enugu State. Which was sponsored by the Enugu state house of assembly speaker, Rt Hon Uche Ugwu, in Partnership with The Action Committee on Sports Legacy and ALGON Enugu state chapter. The event was promoted by IKEUJ boxing Promotion, which is managed by Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo who also is the coordinator of the grassroot boxing talent hunt program.

This event was solely a display of boxing skills, talents and expertises from the youths discovered during the grassroot boxing talent hunt by Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo. “We want to show the world a tip of our achievements so far” Mazi Okoronkwo pointed out.

It was a full power packed event that left everyone with no choice but a continuous speculations till the end.

Prior to the professional display by the professional boxers, there was an amateur boxing exhibition to keep speculators curious.

THE FIST OF THE BONE
The 8th edition of the grassroots boxing talent hunt held in Enugu was done under the supervision of talented judges and experts in boxing. The boxers are all professionals, hence under thorough observation and for educational purposes, it was ensured that no one was hurt or seriously wounded.

Under Feather-Weight Boxing Category

Zoe Okoronkwu in an unanimous decision defeated his opponent Kumazi Daniel.

Israel Ogbodo knocked his opponent Tochukwu Okeke out in the second round.

Chinaza Okoronkwo defeated his opponent Oche Adegene in an unanimous decision.

The president of the Nigerian boxing board of control, Dr Rafiu Oladipo being over excited advised and encouraged the youths to embrace this as an opportunity to better their lives. He further urge the Governor of Enugu state, represented by his Speaker Rt Hon Ugwu to ensure that programs like this are well supported by the government.

The Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Uche Ugwu, expressed satisfaction even though perplexed by the kind of expertise displayed by these young boxers, thanked the coordinators of this program especially Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo for work well done. He then gave medals and certificates to all the boxing participants in the event, thus bringing the program to an end.
