A delegation from Anambra state Government has visited some properties belonging to Anambra located at Plot 650 (M23) and No. 3 Upper Presidential Road, Independence Layout, Enugu State respectively.

The exercise which was carried out yesterday, June 22, 2021 was led by the secretary to state Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu and has Barr. Chike Maduekwe, Executive Chairman, Anambra State Physical Planning Board and SPAD on Digital Economy to Governor Obiano and Ven. Barr. Amaechi Okwuosa, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority as members.

Speaking after the inspection, the SSG, Prof. Chukwulobelu said the state government got reports that some of the properties Anambra inherited when it was created in 1991 were being encroached upon.

Said he, ” We have taken steps to mark the properties. We just want to make it clear to developers that the properties belong to the state. Actually, there are five properties here in Enugu that belong to Anambra state government, two in Lagos and two in Abuja”.

Moveover, Prof. Chukwulobelu declared that the Anambra state government under the able leadership of Governor Willie Obiano has not sold any property the state inherited during asset sharing when new Anambra was created from the old Anambra in 1991.

Concluding, Prof. Chukwulobelu informed that Governor Obiano charged the team to recover all the properties and properly document them for subsequent governments.

The executive Chairman of Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Barr. Chike Maduekwe stated that government acted timeously on the reports it received that some of our properties have been encroached upon by visiting the locations, stopping further development and marking the buildings.

Barr. Maduekwe said that government does not know who is renovating the properties but expressed optimism that they will contact the state government.

He opined that the developers may have mistaken grounds and advised them to contact Anambra state government through the numbers boldly written on the walls of the properties.

On his part, the Managing Director/CEO of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Ven. Barr. Amaechi Okwuosa said government took proper steps to write the illegal occupants of the properties.

He said notices required of the government were duly served on the occupants like Appeals Court, PRODA and other individuals.
