Our Aircraft Was Not Faulty, The GPU Was Unserviceable – Air Peace

AIR PEACE PRESS STATEMENT

Our attention has been drawn to a video that is generating conversations on social media in which a passenger made some untrue statements about our 8am Lagos-Abuja flight of today, December 15, 2023.

In the video, the passenger said the aircraft was faulty and the pilot was trying to manoeuvre’. This is a false and sensationalised account of what actually happened.

The passengers boarded as scheduled but the Ground Power Unit. GPU, stationed to power the aircraft suddenly became unserviceable. Because the aircraft was not powered, the cabin became hot. Passengers were then asked to disembark to avoid discomfort in the cabin before a serviceable GPU was deployed to power the aircraft, which later departed and is operating other flights rostered for it.

While we empathise with the passengers for the resulting inconveniences, we seriously object to comments that call into question the safety of the aircraft.

Air Peace is fully compliant with all the established safety standards and cannot compromise in this regard.

It is, therefore, shocking and misleading to say the pilot was ‘manoeuvring’ and the aircraft was faulty. This is an unfounded statement and we urge members of the public to disregard the post.
