How we will end insecurity with equipment received from supporting countries – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari, at the weekend again promised to eliminate all forms of violent crimes across Nigeria.
The president said this in Kaduna State on Saturday that the administration will continue to do everything within the ambit of law to stamp out heinous crimes creating fears among the citizenry.
He gave the assurance during the Passing Out Parade of 68 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
According to Buhari: “As you’re aware, our beloved nation Nigeria, is facing many security challenges at this period.
“We continue to face security threats and violent crimes such as insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and politically motivated killings which threaten our national integration…..

PDP, APC have led Nigeria astray for 21 years – Attairu Jega
Former Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Attairu Jega, has said the two major political parties in the country have led Nigeria astray in the last 21 years of democratic governance.
Speaking at the maiden inaugural lecture of Kwaravisioners Network for Rural Development, in Ilorin the Kwara State capital, on Saturday, Professor Jega advocated creation of new special vehicles to free Nigeria from its present strangulation.
Speaking on the theme: “Politics, Governance and Leadership Recruitment in 21st Century Democracy” Professor Jega, who described Nigeria as a failing state, urged Nigerians to work hard to change our ways for the country to move forward.
“From the local, state and federal government levels, we have clueless leadership because of the way they got into power,” he declared.
He warned that Nigeria may run aground if the needful is not done at the right time.
The former INEC chairman, also called for development of a people-oriented party structure that will be accountable to the people, adding that people must also elect leaders with integrity and competence…….

Taraba: Why we embarked on indefinite strike – SSANU
The leadership of the Taraba State chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian University (SSANU) has finally broken silence on why they have collectively resolved to embark on an indefinite strike.
In an interview with DAILY POST in Jalingo, the state capital, the state chairman of the association, Linus William, said the strike has become necessary following the “ill attitudes” of the leadership of the state towards the members of the association.
Citing non-payment of promotion arrears, pensions, among the numerous reasons the association unanimously agreed to make learning activities cumbersome for the institution, the members, as stated by him, have signified interest not to suspend the strike pending when their demands were addressed….

Former President of the Senate, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has revealed why he became a medical doctor.
Saraki said that he became a medical doctor to follow in the footsteps of his father, the late Second Republic Majority Leader of the Senate Senator Olusola Abubakar Saraki, who was fondly called ‘Oloye’ by his friends and supporters.
Speaking at the 2021 International Health Summit, organized by the Nigerian Medical Students Association (NiMSA) the former Governor of Kwara State emphasized that being a medical doctor, was about serving the people in the community.
He noted that he is inspired by the next generation of medical professionals, especially the doctors that he met and interacted with at the International Health Summit….
