It’s no longer a news that FG orders all Nigerians to link their SIM cards to their National Identity Number. Federal government also threatened to block every SIM that faults in this view in the future stipulated time.
Reacting and considering the need for someone to still maintain one’s SIM and still remain connected, Nigerians have been making consistent efforts to ensure that they linked their NIN to their SIMs especially those that doesn’t have NIN at all.
Alarming crowd have been reported gathering in all the NIMC offices where they can have or register and get their NIN which is a great contradiction to the Covid-19 rules and regulations. Alot of NIMC officers in almost all the states have used this opportunity to extort heavily from fellow Nigerians, such that NIN which is made to be free is now paid heavily for.
However, some Nigerians have reacted to this NIN issue as a political strategy to embezzle public funds and to endanger the lives of citizens, if not, consider the following;
1. Why would NIN registration gathering be fully encourage as against crowd contact (a covid19 regulation)which led to placing a curfew, closing down markets, religious worship centres, night clubs,schools, etc?
2. This is more confusing, the networks will say ”dial *1….. to retrive your NIN” which means they have it, so why stressing the people to link their NIN while they (the network providers have it in the SIMs (I NEED CLARIFICATIONS ANYWAY).
Now, new SIMs are not being registered, but could you believe that unregistered SIMs are working perfectly?
Nigerians are complaining bitterly
